What is it? Newborn - Age 6 (for over 6 , see Christian Initiation of Children or Adult) Baptism is a Sacrament of Initiation that welcomes a child into our faith community of Catholic believers. It is the celebration that begins the faith life of the child in and with Christ. Because the child is unable to express their faith, the Church invites the parents into a preparation process prior to the Baptism Celebration. Through prayer, reflection, scripture, and faith sharing, parents are guided and supported in their responsibilities as faith witnesses for the child. Holy Baptism holds the first place among the sacraments, because it is the door of the spiritual life; for by it we are made members of Christ and incorporated within the Catholic Church. Baptism Dates Baptisms are celebrated one Sunday per month and one Saturday per month. Please call the office for more information on specific dates. Please remember to submit Baptism Form 603a along with your child's birth certificate at least 2 weeks in advance to the office. |
Baptism Preparation Course All parents are required to complete a Baptismal Preparation Classes before their child is baptized. Godparents are also required to take the course. It is highly recommended that parents attend preparation sessions during pregnancy. While preparing for your child’s birth, it is important to begin preparing for your child’s Christian formation as well. Godparents When selecting who will be the Godparents to your children it is important to consider who would be the most suitable candidate , as you want the best for your child.
