What is it?
Grade 2 + The sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion are two very important events in a child’s spiritual life.
Reconciliation heals our spiritual wounds and restores God’s grace.
Communion is the most central and important of all the sacraments, because of our belief that the consecrated bread and wine are truly the consecrated body and blood, soul and divinity of Christ.

First Communion and Reconciliation Preparation Classes
First Communion and Reconciliation preparation is offered to Children who are in Grade 2 and above.
To ensure all children are properly prepared to receive these sacraments, the church facilitates lessons, usually offered once a week, beginning in January until May (when they receive their first communion). Parents are required to attend all classes, as they offer helpful information and insight for the preparation of their children.
The celebration of the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion takes place in May.
Dress: The celebration of the Sacrament of the Eucharist is a special day for all of the community, families and child. We encourage attire that reflects the necessary reverence, dignity, joy and importance of the occasion. Simple garments for all are welcomed.
Boys: slacks (no jeans or sweats), shirt (long or short sleeve) and tie, and nice shoes are appropriate.
Girls: a modest dress (white is not necessary, no midriffs or bare shoulders) or a dress slack outfit and dress shoes are fine.
